Richard A. Szczebak has more than
25 years of experience as an ERISA employee benefits lawyer and consultant.
Rick is Of Counsel to Parker Brown & Macaulay, P.C. in Boston, Massachusetts,
where he concentrates his practice exclusively in employee benefit matters.
He advises clients regularly on the design, administration and taxation
of group health and welfare benefit plans, fringe benefit plans, and
on compliance with state and federal health care reform. He has helped
employers - large and small - implement employee benefit plans and solve
issues related to those plans.
During the past 4 years Rick has also been a special legal advisor to
the MA Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority and the MA
Division of Health Care Finance and Policy in connection with Mass Health
Care Reform. Rick lectures frequently on employee benefit law, health
care reform and related issues. He is well-regarded for his ability
to discuss technical issues in a practical manner.
Prior to joining Parker Brown & Macaulay, Rick was with the prominent
Boston law firm Ropes & Gray. He has also held positions as Vice
President of health and welfare compliance for Fidelity Investments
and as Counsel with Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company. He was a major
contributor to the last rewrite of the BNA Tax Management Portfolio
on Code Section 125 Cafeteria Plans. Rick is a graduate of the University
of Massachusetts, Amherst and received his law degree, cum laude, from
Marquette University Law School.
